Boity Thulo
Boitumelo Thulo (born 28 April 1990), known popularly as Boity, is a South African television personality, rapper, actress, businesswoman, and model. She is known for her contributions to both the entertainment and music industries.
Early Life
Boitumelo Thulo was born in Potchefstroom, North West, South Africa. Raised by her maternal grandmother, she is the only daughter of Modiehi Thulo. Thulo studied psychology and criminology at Monash University but left due to financial difficulties. She began her career with a Wimpy commercial in 2010.
Career
Boity Thulo began her television career in 2011 as the presenter of "Crib Notes" on YOTV. She co-hosted the SABC 1 show "The Media Career Guide Show" and hosted several other programs, including SkyRoom Live, Ridiculousness Africa, Club 808, Zoned, Change Down, and Big Brother Africa.
Her acting career included a role as "Mpho Bogatsu" in the drama series Rockville and appearances in the short film Dear Betty (2014) and Mrs Right Guy (2016).
In 2017, Boity Thulo made her music debut during the Migos Culture Tour in South Africa. She released her debut single "Wuz Dat?" featuring Nasty C on 30 August 2018. The single was certified platinum and won "Best Collaboration" at the 2018 South African Hip Hop Awards. Her second single, "Bakae," was released on 8 February 2019.
In December 2020, Thulo released her EP 4436, which was nominated for Best Hip Hop Album at the 27th South African Music Awards. She signed a record deal with Def Jam Africa in 2021 and announced her single "The Yano Way," featuring Daliwonga and Felo.
Personal Life
Boity Thulo had a relationship with rapper Cassper Nyovest, which ended in December 2015. In October 2021, she was hospitalized following an altercation with Bujy Bikwa. She launched her beverage brand, BT Signature, in 2021.
