Nsikayesizwe David Jr. Ngcobo (born 11 February 1997), known professionally as Nasty C, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer.

Early Life

Nasty C was born in Diepkloof, borough of Soweto, Johannesburg. After his mother passed away in a car accident when he was just 11 months old, he relocated to Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal to be raised by his father, David Maviyo Ngcobo, a human resources manager. He has an older brother, Siyabonga Ngcobo, who influenced him to become a rapper, teaching him the basics of music production at nine. He also has a younger brother, Olwethu Ngcobo. Nasty C attended Strelitzia Secondary School in Lotus Park, Durban, completing 12th grade.

Career

At age 14, Nasty C released his debut mixtape One Kid, a Thousand Coffins on 14 May 2012. This was followed by his debut EP L.A.M.E (Levitating Above My Enemies) on 4 April 2014. On 10 February 2015, he released his second mixtape Price City, which included the successful single "Juice Back." The song's popularity was further boosted by a remix featuring Davido and Cassper Nyovest, produced by Gemini Major.

In 2016, Nasty C released "Hell Naw," the lead single from his debut album Bad Hair, which was released on 23 September under Mabala Noise Entertainment. The album topped the iTunes local charts and became the most-streamed album in South Africa within 24 hours of its release. An extended version, Bad Hair Extensions, featuring new tracks including "Allow" with French Montana, was released on 2 December 2016.

Nasty C's second album Strings and Bling was released on 6 July 2018 under Universal Music Group. The album included singles like "Jungle," "King" featuring A$AP Ferg, and "SMA" featuring Rowlene. It received critical acclaim and was listed among the best hip-hop albums in South Africa.

In 2020, Nasty C signed a joint venture deal with Def Jam Records and released his first single under the label, "There They Go," which gained him international recognition. On 28 August 2020, he released his third studio album Zulu Man with Some Power. The album featured international and South African artists, including T.I., Ari Lennox, and Rowlene.

In 2022, Nasty C released a mixtape titled Ivyson Army. He continued to release singles, including "No More" in June 2023 and "Crazy Crazy" in July 2023. His fourth studio album I Love It Here was announced in August 2023 and released on 15 September 2023, debuting at number one in South Africa.

Personal Life

Nasty C established his record label, Tall Racks Records, in 2018.
