The ninth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show, tagged "No Loose Guard," kicked off tonight. The current season has a new twist, which is the introduction of housemates in pairs.
14 pairs, a total of 28 housemates, were introduced by the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
This season, housemates will be competing for the grand prize of ₦100 million and a brand-new SUV, a drastic cut from the previous amount of ₦120 million.
Here are what you should know about the contestants:
1. Zion & Chinwe (Zinwe)
The first set of housemates, Zion, aged 26, and Chinwe, aged 30, have been dating for six months. Zion is a model and fashion designer and Chinwe is a beauty & skincare entrepreneur.
2. Fairme David & Michky (Radicals)
The second pair are friends, Fairme David, aged 29, and Michky, aged 24. Fairme David is a professional dancer and content creator and Michky is a gym instructor.
3. DJ Flo & Rhuthee (Floruish)
The third pair of the night, Rhuthee, aged 37, and DJ Flo, aged 27, have been best friends for 10 years.
4. Chinne & Anne (Ndi Nne)
The fourth pair is a niece and her aunty―Chinne, aged 31 and Nne, aged 22. They are entrepreneurs.
5. Sooj & Topher (Aces)
The fifth pair, Sooj, aged 23, and Topher, aged 24, are colleagues and have been friends for one year. Sooj is a communications specialist and Topher is a public relations analyst.
6. Shaun & Victoria (Shatoria)
The sixth pair, Shaun, aged 28, and Victoria, aged 25, are friends who met in Dubai in 2022 and have been inseparable ever since.
7. Handi & Wanni (Wanni x Handi)
The seventh duo of the night, Wanni and Handi, aged 27, are identical twins from Kaduna. They are also DJs.
8. Ben & Tjay (Beta)
The eighth pair, Tjay, aged 33, and Ben, aged 29, have been friends for six years. They randomly met on Instagram in 2018. Ben is a club influencer and Tjay is a medical doctor, married and has a daughter.
9. Ocee & Ozee (Mbadiwe Twins)
The ninth duo of the night is another pair of identical twins, Ocee and Ozee, aged 37. They are originally from Imo State.
10. Damilola & Toyosi (Tami)
The tenth duo are another pair of female friends, Damilola, aged 28, and Toyosi, aged 26. They have been best friends for eight years.
11. Anita & Nelly (Nelita)
The eleventh pair, Anita, aged 28, and Queen Nelly, aged 29, have been friends for nine years. They both met at a beauty pageant audition in Owerri, Imo State. Anita was crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) in 2018.
12. Mayor & Toby (Streeze)
The twelfth pair of the night, Mayor, aged 24, and Toby, aged 27, are friends who met at the University of Lagos.
13. KayXtra & KellyRae (DoubleKay)
The thirteenth pair, KayXtra, aged 30, and KellyRae, aged 33, have been married for 5 months and have been together for over 9 years. They got married in February 2024. KayXtra is an entrepreneur and KellyRae is a professional singer. They are originally from Delta State.
14. Chizoba & Onyeka (Chekas)
The fourteen pair of the night, Onyeka, aged 28, and Chizoba, aged 31, are sisters and best friends. Chizoba is a software developer and Onyeka is a lawyer and entrepreneur. They are originally from Anambra State.
