Asisat Lamina Oshoala (born 9 October 1994) is a Nigerian professional football player. She is a striker for the Spanish Liga F club Barcelona and the Nigeria women's national team.

Early Life

Asisat Oshoala was born and raised in Ikorodu, Nigeria. She has six siblings. Asisat attended Air Force Primary School located in Victoria Island, Lagos. Later, she moved to Aunty Ayo International School in Lagos where she completed her secondary education in 2009.

Career

Asisat Oshoala has played for several clubs throughout her career. She joined Liverpool in England's Women's Super League in January 2015, before signing with Arsenal in March 2016. In February 2017, she moved to the Chinese club Dalian (大连女子足球俱乐部) and was awarded the league's Golden Boot award for most goals scored during the 2017 season.

In January 2019, Asisat Oshoala signed a loan deal with Spanish club FC Barcelona Femení until the end of the season. Later, in May 2019, Barcelona announced her full transfer to the club and extended her contract until 2022. On May 16, 2021, Asisat Oshoala made history by becoming the first African woman to win the UEFA Champions League. She came on in the 71st minute of the finals and helped Barcelona defeat Chelsea 4–0.

On March 10, 2022, Asisat Oshoala signed a two-year contract extension with Barcelona that will keep her at the club until June 30, 2024. She has won the African Women's Footballer of the Year award a record six times and is considered one of the most accomplished African female footballers of all time.

Asisat Oshoala was named the best player at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and emerged as the top scorer at the tournament with seven goals. Additionally, she was recognized as the best player and second top scorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women's Championship. Asisat Oshoala also won the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year award in 2015. In September 2014, she was honoured with the title of Member of the Order of the Niger by Goodluck Jonathan the 14th president of Nigeria.
