Kemi Badenoch
Kemi Badenoch (born 2 January 1980) is a British politician who has been the Leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of the Opposition since November 2024.
Early Life
Kemi Badenoch was born in Wimbledon, London, and is one of three children of Nigerian Yoruba parents. She grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, and in the United States before returning to the United Kingdom at 16.
Career
Since 2017, Kemi Badenoch has been the Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden. From 2022 to 2024, she was the Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade. She also served as the Minister for Women and Equalities during the same period.
From 2020 to 2022, she worked in Boris Johnson's second government as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Equalities.
Personal Life
Kemi Badenoch has been married to Hamish Badenoch since 2012, and they have three children. Her father passed away in February 2022.
