American rapper Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean "Diddy" Combs at an MTV Video Awards afterparty in 2000. The allegations come from an anonymous minor plaintiff, who claims that a limousine driver invited her to the party, where Combs and Jay-Z allegedly took turns assaulting her. Another female celebrity reportedly stood by and watched the assault, but their name has not been disclosed.
Jay Z has denied the allegations, in a statement through his publicity team, calling them a "blackmail attempt," and stating that he would have to explain the situation to his children. He claims that the accusations are false and that he's being extorted. Combs's team has stated that they're confident in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process.
The lawsuit was initially filed in October, naming only Diddy as a defendant. However, on Sunday (Dec. 8), an amended filing added Shawn Carter (Jay-Z's real name) to the lawsuit.
Combs is currently in prison in New York, awaiting trial for racketeering, sex trafficking, and other offences. His trial date is set for May 5.
