Divine Ikubor (born 1 May 2000), known professionally as Rema, is a Nigerian singer and rapper. He is internationally recognized for his 2022 hit song "Calm Down" and the remix with American singer Selena Gomez.

Early Life

Rema was born into a Christian family in Benin City. He attended Ighile Group of Schools in Edo State for primary and secondary education. Rema began singing and rapping while in secondary school under the stage name "Blitz". At age 14, he adopted the stage name "Rema."

Career

Before starting his solo career, Rema formed a music duo with Alpha P called RNA. In 2019, Rema signed a record deal D'Prince's Jonzing World. That same year, "Iron Man" from his debut EP was included on Barack Obama's Summer Playlist.

Rema was nominated for Best Viewers Choice: International Act at the 2020 BET Award. His single "Beamer" was included in the soundtrack of EA's video game, FIFA 21.

In 2021, he was nominated for a MOBO Award for Best African Music Act. British-Ghanian music producer, Jae5 collaborated with him and Skepta on the single "Dimension".

In 2022, Rema released his debut album, Rave and Roses. In August, he released a remix of his hit single, "Calm Down," with Selena Gomez.

Personal Life

Rema is a supporter of the football club Manchester United F.C.
